A cleanse is a short-term diet that (a) limits calorie intake, and (b) consists of beverages and/or foods which are easily digested and absorbed by the body.
When you undertake a cleanse you’re not burdening your body’s inherent detoxification systems (eg skin, blood, liver, intestines, kidneys, lymph) to deal with any incoming ingested toxins.
Consequentially your detox systems can more successfully go to work on any backlog of (ingested or environmental) toxins; this is the ultimate reason you should cleanse.
There are many many benefits of undertaking a cleanse, including amongst others, clear skin, weight loss, reduced bloating, more energy and deeper sleep.
We don’t recommend cleansing if you are a child, pregnant or breastfeeding. This is not the time to be restricting calories.
We recommend reducing your consumption of caffeinated beverages, alcohol, soft drinks, sugar, excess salt, refined foods, animal products, artificial foods and deep fried foods.
And to increase your intake of whole plant based foods!
This will ease the transition into your detoxing process.
There’s no doubt you’ll feel different during your cleanse.
And each one of us will react differently to the same cleanse.
And what’s even weirder is that each one of us usually reacts differently each time we do the same cleanse!
The fact is not only are we all different, but each one of us never feels – or even is – the same! This is simply because there are endless daily variables at play as we go about living our busy lives.
So, after giving consideration to the above, these are the most common noticeable effects our cleansing customers regularly report back with….weight loss, improved energy, clearer skin, reduced bloating, shinier hair, sparklier eyes, sharper mental clarity, feeling lighter, deeper sleep and better mood.
Some customers occasionally experience head aches (usually caffeine withdrawal), irritability (usually a desire to eat or caffeine withdrawal) or fatigue (usually body transitioning to ketosis).
We recommend light physical activity. This will actually help your body eliminate toxins and thus achieve a deeper cleanse.
A walk, light jog, yoga or pilates is best.
We strongly recommend you refrain from rigorous exercise whilst cleansing.
If, during your cleanse, you feel hungry (which is perfectly normal by the way, particularly if you’re new to cleansing) we suggest to immediately consume 1-2 glasses of water and take your mind off your hunger and food. After about 15-30 minutes the hunger usually passes.
If you can’t continue without food, don’t beat yourself up. Just go ahead and eat….a little!
The key here is to eat the right foods which is fresh raw vegetables!
Think celery, carrot, cucumber, etc. These are low in sugar, high in fibre, low in calories and chock a block full of water. Your hunger should dissipate quickly and more importantly you won’t have compromised your cleanse much at all.
It’s all good. Never force yourself to drink a juice.
Be aware the ultimate key to successfully detoxing your body is, believe it or not, not what you’re consuming….it’s actually what you’re not consuming!
Put another way, your body will cleanse best the more you abstain from consuming food (or beverages).
So the less you juice you consume, the deeper will be your cleanse. The downside is you are more likely to feel lethargic and suffer unpleasant flu like symptoms of rapid detox.
In conclusion, follow your gut. If you can’t stomach another juice, don’t force it and don’t feel upset for not drinking it.
Our juices are all cold pressed – to order – within our registered commercial kitchen facility.
We use no preservation technique whatsoever and as a result our juices are chock a block full with maximum nutrients. The only part of our fresh fruit and vegetable produce we remove from your juice is the fibre.
As a result our juices have a use by date of only four days. Which by the way is something we are immensely proud of.
